Finding your way around the library

shelves of books

In the library, there will be lots of shelves of books.

The library is divided into three main sections, Adult Fiction, Adult Non-Fiction and Children’s.

If you are looking for a specific book or are not sure where to look you can ask the library staff to help you.

Literacy Area in the library

The library can sometimes be noisy if we are busy or have an event going on. Staff can give you a list of events, so you know when the library is going to be busier.

If you would like a quiet place to sit there is a comfy chair in our Literacy Area which is by the main entrance to the library.

Joining the library

Hello desk in library

If you would like to join the library you can ask our staff.

They will need to see some identification with your name and address on it such as a driving licence or bank statement.

The library staff will also give you a list of the library opening hours so you know when you can come back.

You can usually find us at the Hello Desk. Don't worry if no one is there, we might be helping customers but we will help you as soon as we can.

ID badge on lanyard

If you have any questions, or would like a tour of the library you can ask a member of staff who will be happy to help.

children's DVDs and books scattered on a table

With your library card, you can borrow books to take home with you.

One of the library staff will show you how to do this, and you can get a receipt which tells you when you need to bring the book back. Books are usually issued for 3 weeks.

RFID machines

This if the Self Service machine you will use to borrow and return books, the staff will show you how to use it.

Once you have used it a couple of times you will be able to do it myself, but there are always staff to ask for help if you are not sure.

When I visit the library

Library computers

There are two public computers in the library which are by the main entrance to the library.

library card

The computers are free to use but you will need your library card to log on to them.

Thank you for visiting the library
